BlueWave Security is leading a new wave of unified physical and IT security products. BlueWave is the first to provide an end-to-end physical access control solution based on the IEEE 802.11 (Wi-Fi) standard coupled with industry best-of-breed Wi-Fi management and security tools.

Our mission is to provide unparalleled value to our customers by embracing and extending the unification of IT and physical security.

We accomplish this mission by:

Mance Harmon - Founder and CEO

As Founder and Chief Executive Officer of BlueWave Security, Mance Harmon brings more than twenty years of information technology expertise and entrepreneurial drive to ensure consistent growth and product development. In addition, he oversees key relationships with BlueWave Security’s global network of technology and sales partners, including Motorola, Clark Security Products, BlueStar, and Monitronics International.

  • Throughout his extensive career, Harmon has led a number of leading-edge information technology initiatives for such organizations as Symbol Technologies (now the Enterprise Mobility Division of Motorola), the United States Air Force and the Missile Defense Agency. Most recently, Harmon has served as Senior Director of Security Architectures and Security Products for Symbol Technologies. At Symbol, he was responsible for designing end-to-end security strategies across all of its product divisions.

    Prior to his tenure there, he was CEO and founder of Trio Security, which was purchased by Symbol Technologies and specialized in identity management, user authentication, encryption and single-sign-on technologies for handheld computers. During his tenure with the U.S. Air Force, Harmon was an instructor of Computer Science at the U.S. Air Force Academy, served as the General Manager of the Missile Defense Wargame simulator (used to develop our nation’s missile defense shield), was named the top program manager during his tenure in the Missile Defense Agency, was formally selected as the top new computer scientist in the Air Force, and was selected as the top employee in Wright Laboratory (the largest Air Force lab with more than 2600 employees) for his research in Artificial Intelligence.

    Harmon holds an MS in Computer Science from the University of Massachusetts and a BS in Computer Science from Mississippi State University.

    John Hughes - COO and VP of Product Development

    As COO and VP of Product Development of BlueWave Security, John Hughes brings two decades of technology expertise and corporate leadership to manage the growth and day-today operations for BlueWave Security. In addition, he oversees product development and customer integration, including its cornerstone product BlueView Control.

  • During his career, Hughes has overseen a number of engineering and mobile technology initiatives. Prior to joining BlueWave Security, he served in a number of management functions at Symbol Technologies, including Director of Security Architectures and Security Products within the CTO Office, Director of Product Marketing for the Mobile Computing Division and Director of Technical Marketing for the Wireless Systems Division. At Symbol, Hughes played a key role on its wireless application team that helped develop the 802.11 Wi-Fi standard, which was the industry’s first open wireless network standard. He also oversaw projects to increase the capacity for wireless networks and develop architectures for handheld products. Prior to Symbol, Hughes served as Vice President of Software Engineering for Manco Systems and Sr. Account Manager for Marathon Systems, a consulting firm for supply chain and operations logistics. Hughes holds a bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia.

    Marshall Merrifield - Chairman

    Marshall Merrifield serves as the Chairman and Co-Founder of BlueWave Security. Marshall also serves as president of Clark Security Products, one of the nation’s leading security companies. Merrifield has co-founded several companies including Shoreline Studios and Perseus Wireless.

  • Research and development of wireless and security technology
  • Business-to-business marketing and development strategies
  • Mobile wireless security technology
  • Shoreline Studios is a software company that produces live animation for sports television, including Fox Sports’ glowing hockey puck for NHL broadcasts and the yellow first down line for NFL broadcasts. Perseus Wireless is a web hosted service that stores and transmits security video over cellular networks. He became an active entrepreneur after working in corporate finance and municipal finance with investment banking firm Kidder, Peabody. Marshall and his wife Ginny launched a non-profit organization to provide curriculum for elementary children during recess. Playground Partners reaches more than 20 San Diego & Orange County schools with 10,000 kids to create a fun, inclusive and safe environment. Marshall holds a BA in Economics from Princeton University. He lives in the community of San Diego California with his wife of 15 years and their three children.
